September and October were very busy months at Stoneridge Dental! Dr. Saydyk was asked to teach a class on the implementation of oral appliances in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea in the dental office to the Arizona Academy of General Dentistry. The course was part of the AZAGD’s annual conference in Phoenix.
The class was four hours long and taught new and experienced dentists the pathophysiology of sleep disordered breathing, how to screen for sleep disordered breathing and a protocol for treatment with oral appliances. Verna taught a section on the financial aspect and billing medical insurance. Wiltrina was at the conference as well assisting Dr. Saydyk. It was a great success and Dr. Saydyk hopes to continue teaching with the AGD.
In early October Dr. Saydyk was also asked to speak at the Arizona Sleep Society (AZSS) annual conference on the titration of oral devices in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. Dr. Saydyk believes strongly in working together with the medical community in the treatment of sleep disordered breathing and was very thankful for the opportunity to speak to them. The talk was highly interactive and productive and drew praise from the attendees and the board of the AZSS.
