Instant Orthodontics

Orthodontics

We all want a wonderful smile that we can be proud to show off. Crooked, discolored and worn teeth can give an aged look to your smile. Orthodontics can straighten your teeth but in the end the discoloration, wear and chipping are still there and require ceramic or white colored filling material to correct the shape of the teeth. While some cases are best treated with a combination of Orthodontics and dental restorations, in some cases the tooth position correction can be done without orthodontics.

The biggest factor in instant orthodontics is planning. Models of your teeth are made, and space is evaluated for a normal tooth length and width. Wax is used to correct the position of the teeth and to get a plan for how the teeth will look at the end of treatment. This wax representation of your new smile is also used to fabricate provisional restorations that are used to “test drive” your smile and protect the teeth while the laboratory fabricates the final porcelain veneers.

When porcelain veneers are properly bonded to tooth structure, they are beautiful and long lasting. Sometimes when the teeth only require minor movement and their overall color is correct, then composite or white colored filling material can be used rather than remove tooth structure for veneers. This is the ultimate in instant orthodontics and can be extremely satisfying.
