An implant is a permanent replacement for a broken or extracted tooth that looks and performs exactly like a natural tooth. Dr. Saydyk is experienced in planning and restoring implants to improve your smile and restore your teeth to full function and beauty.
What are dental implants?
Implants are a well-tested and very successful technology that take several months and steps to perform: first a titanium screw (the implant) is surgically placed into the patient's jawbone to serve as the new root of the replacement tooth. The implanted root fuses with the natural bone to become as strong as the original tooth. Implants can hold individual tooth restorations, or can support restorations of multiple teeth.
When the implant has healed into place, an “abutment” (the base) of an artificial tooth is put in place, followed by a crown crafted out of hard material that is virtually indistinguishable from a natural tooth. I specialize in implant restoration, which is the pretty part on top that everyone can see!
Which kinds of patients need dental implants?
Dental implant patients can include adults of all ages who are missing one, several, or even all of their teeth due to injury, defects, disease, or decay.
